Santa Cruz

There is not much in the city itself, but if you happen to spend time in Santa Cruz, prepare for the heat and go eat steak! Other than that we recommend using it as a hub to do trips to Refugio Los Volcanes, Samaipata or Chiquitania.

Infos

How to get here

Santa Cruz is most likely where you will land after your international flight to Bolivia. Within Bolivia, Santa Cruz is easily accessible by plane from La Paz, Cochabamba and others.

Things to do

There is not much to do in Santa Cruz, which is why we recommend not spending time here besides transits. If you have some time to spare, go visit the central plaza and the old center. Besides that, take advantage of the good food options, and make sure you eat a big ol' steak. Santa Cruz is the best place to eat steak (besides Tarija).

How to get around

Always use Uber, which is very common in Santa Cruz, when you move around the city.

What to do from here

Santa Cruz is your base for trips to Refugio Los Volcanes, Samaipata or Chiquitania.

Restaurants

El Arriero

Steak

The classic when it comes to steakhouses in Santa Cruz.

Fogón de Gringo

Steak

Originally from Tarija, this one is fairly new. We have been impressed by its consistent, very high quality. The new king in town when it comes to steak? Maybe so.

Fogo de Chão

Brazilian, Rotisserie

Brazilian rotisserie is an experience. People were highly anticipating Fogo de Chão's opening in Bolivia, and it did not disappoint.

Sach'a

Peruvian, Sushi

A fantastic option if you like Peruvian dishes and sushi. Besides the meat restaurants on the left, this might just be our favourite.

HAPO

Bolivian, Fusion

Same concept as the cool fusion restaurants in La Paz, but with an Amazonian touch. They have a degustation menu.

4 Llamas

Coffee

The best coffee in the country. And run by our very good friends who you will meet at the wedding.

L'Arôme Café

Coffee, Breakfast, Brunch

Our favourite place for breakfast or brunch. Lore basically lived here.

Hotels

Camino Real

$$$

A great and comfortable option right across from our old apartment. It comes with dozens of green parrots that fly around the entrance of the hotel during sunset and sunrise. Large outside pool.

Los Tajibos

$$$

Probably the nicest hotel in our old neighbourhood. It has a large pool and a great brunch buffet on weekends. Just like Camino Real, it is located in Equipetrol, the coolest area in the city.
